- Shungite is a nonuniform stone and may contain inclusions of QUARTZ and PYRITE. During engraving, the laser pattern lies on top of the inclusions, which is reflected in the final appearance. The external apparent distortions in the engraving are not defects, but are explained by the geological features of shungite, a natural type of rock.
